Its good, but wouldn say great. Best way of getting from West to East though.
Yorkshire actually starts before Skipton! Road is very busy, plenty of police activity constantly. Don even think about speeding at weekends, unmarked cars all over the place. Take it early morning or late evening, the traffic is less problematic and you can then enjoy it a litle more. Its a decent gateway to a proper county when escaping the other one - it leads you into greater biking experiences, but in it itself its quite boring.
tried this route, thoroughly enjoyed ideal for newbies, like myself
Good surfaced A road 50/60 speed limits some cameras, busy with some police bikes etc sundays. ride takes u past Whalley, Clitheroe over to Skipton and on over tops through area called Blubberhouse [high mooreland]dropping down into Yorkshire at Harrogate, through Harrogate and onto York where one can continue east to either Bridlington Scarborough or Whitby on East coast, Some brew stops on way and good pubs for food. worth a days ride out.
