A classic! Lots of very nice sweepers, very few hidden dangers when out of the towns. But beware in the towns, as there are more than a few tourists.
Do yourself a favour and go further up river than Trier. There you can follow the Luxembourg bank (pun intended).
There are lots of nice places to stop for lunch or for the night. Many have their own, and practically all have local wine.
Twice this year(2008) this road has been a delight to ride, the surface is first class and the sencery is worth taking in. And a plus for this area, there is plenty of biker friendly accommodation.
nigeroseridersWe rode this route a year or two ago. I didn't look at my speedo much during the ride, but was amazed when my mate told me what we were doing. Constant radius bends plus excellent visibility in and out of them makes for superb riding. You can line it up way ahead knowing what to expect and no nasty surprises. Scenery not bad either, but didn't do too much looking around as we were enjoying the road so much.
CatmanA stunning road with stunning views, can be a bit busy in peak season, but plenty of overtaking places. The whole Mosel valley froM Koblenz to Trier looks much the same but I have Only ridden this section. This section makes a good day out from the Nurburgring if you fancy a change.
