The road initially out of Salamanca is pretty ordinary but as you get toward La Alberca you climb into the mountains, then just south of La Alberca there is a quick decent with lots of bends, lots of zig zags down, with great view from the top onto the road below (nice photo). If you are heading south from Salamanca id recommend this as a diversion.
