I ride this area a lot, and you can avoid the concrete section by turning onto Rt 32 just north of Stillwater. It will return to Rt 4 in Schuylerville. It's a more interesting road, and passes the entrance to the Saratoga Battlefield if you're into that.

this is a great route, but the section of concrete near the Saratoga National Park and Cemetery is a few miles of section joints that really can be jarring, and otherwise a very enjoyable. ride.. If in the area, definitely try this ride.

Pleasant open corners on the Mohawk River road, quite good.
