During the recent UK floods I was lucky to be in the sunny Highlands! I rode this route with a group on sports bikes and it created one of my best ever biking days. Ive tried the Massif Central and the Eiffel mountains but nothing compares to this. Miles of continuous high quality corners, fast straights and fantastic scenery. You will share your ride with groups of German and Dutch riders, give them plenty of space if you need to overtake. Relax and enjoy this.
Lovely road with great scenery. Very little traffic on it, wide open visibility for the most part enabling a great smooth flowing ride. Great corners
Yetis comments are spot on. Its a great ride.
From Kinlochewe take the A832 towards Gairloch, the first section past Loch Marie is exceptionaly fast with straights and wonderfull sweeping corners, 3 figures on speedo everywhere. You then get a short 'nadgery' single track section into Gairloch. After Gairloch the road just gets better and better, along with the spectacular scenery. The view over Loch Gruinard is worth stopping for. When you eventualy get to the A835 turn towards Ullapool, a layby on the right has a tea van, to stop, and get the adrenalin out of the system before the run into Ullapool and a pint of Krony 1664 in the Ferryboat Inn. This route can be enjoyed by all of us, cruisers, sports bikes, big tourers, everybody!
Stop for a pint at the old inn in Gailoch and this is what you get.
