I live in Darlington, and came from close by this route, so its only a short hop for me to get to it. Really nice ride - Ive never got close to enjoying it to its fullest yet! Echo the previous sentiment, though - watch out on the way to Great Langton, a mile or two after those uphill esses - a nasty blind left-hander right on the crest of a hill. You cant see it coming and youre on top of it before you know it!
I often use this route as a part of one of my regular short runouts. Really good route when you get it right. You need to be on form to get the best out of it. Some days I do not seem to be firing on a full complement of mental cylinders so I just have to take it easy. The run from the A167 to Scorton on the B1263 is pretty good as well.
Nice corners in the Kiplin area and some good brake testers further on. Not seen much Police presence in this area, but North Yorkshire are out to get you.
agree entirely with the last sentiment - it has to be ridden to be believed, usually combined as part of one of my big days out - the short cut (?) to North Pennines! Enjoy!
My favourite stretch of road in North Yorkshire, I often ride up from Leeds to have a few go's at it as it's just as good either way. Only two short 30mph limits on the route, one at Great Langton about halfway along is a nice breather. A great mix of sweeping and hairpin, some with a nice camber although the blind right hander over a crest just east of Great Langton and after a short straight can catch people out, take care!
Only a short run, but turn round & do it again ! Have fun !
