This is a nice bit of road with some beautiful scenery. There are numerous great roads in this area and so this short route can be combined with others to make some great riding be it for an hour or a day.
This is a lovely bit of road. The attached video covers the section from Dagnall, near Dunstable, to the last roundabout before the road dives into the 30mph speed limit and the built up area around Tring, and back again (so you get to see the majority of this road in both directions) but the whole route is great on a bike. After crossing the A5 trunk road in the middle of the urban sprawl of Dunstable, and chugging out westwards for a while, the built up area very suddenly peters out into the green belt, and its game on. Its a fast, flowing, entertaining road, with great visibility and only a few mini roundabouts near Dunstable which require a little care. The centre section of the route round Ivinghoe Beacon is a little hazardous because of the potential for dozy tourists turning and parking in inappropriate places, but once past that there are some glorious overtaking opportunities, although keep an eye on your speed differentials when passing multiple vehicles. The final section, towards Tring, is a little twistier and less open, with junctions and some tighter blind corners, although it is all relative - its still a fast road. Watch out for the village and the short 30 limit through it, and the single track bridge (over the railway) with the traffic lights, but apart from those interruptions, its fun fun fun all the way to Tring.
