I live on this route and have lost count of the number of stray sheep that are on the road round blind corners. The tops are nice, but don't for a moment think you can get your knee down on the bends as you can't see round any of them - the sheep, tractors and gravel will end you! A few nasty pot holes have appeared recently as well.On the plus side - give me a bell if you break down - all the gear in the garage to fix you up
Nice little road But if you are coming from Newtown be aware of a Hairpin with a farm track leading off the first time I did the run I nearly ended up going up the track nice run with nice views and you can open up a bit just be aware for gravel on some corners
A really good alternative to the sometimes heavily policed A483. Start at Newtown on the A483 to take in the twisties then do a left onto the B4355 at Dolfor ( blink & youll miss it !). Nice view a few miles in at the top of Moel Wilym. High hedgerows limit visibility towards the end of the stretch but still a great road. From Knighton take the A488 to Pennybont near to Crossgates for a brew & scoff at the cafe nxt to the garage. No 3 figure speeds needed to enjoy this road.
